Senator Paul Doyle was elected to his first term as the state senator from the 9th Senatorial District in November 2006. He represents the towns of Cromwell, Middletown, Newington, Rocky Hill, and Wethersfield, and currently serves as Chair of the Select Committee on Aging. He also serves as the vice chair of the General Law and Housing Committees and sits on the Regulations Review Committee.
Previously, Senator Doyle served as the state Representative from the 28th District in Wethersfield, where he was House Chair of the Banks Committee and a member of the Judiciary and Commerce Committees.
In 1997, Senator Doyle was selected as a Toll Fellow--a program that honors and acknowledges 40 individuals nationwide for their outstanding achievement and service to state government. Prior to his success as a state legislator, Senator Doyle was heavily involved in politics and government both at the state and local level.
In the mid-eighties, Senator Doyle worked on the Democratic State Central Committee in Hartford as an executive assistant. Locally, he served as the Wethersfield Town Treasurer for two years before being elected to the Wethersfield Town Council in 1991. Senator Doyle was reelected to the Wethersfield Town Council in 1993. While on the Town Council, he was Chair of the Transportation, Refuse Disposal, and Ambulance Committees in addition to acting as a liaison to the Wethersfield Chamber of Commerce.
Senator Doyle holds a bachelor's degree in History from Colby College and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Connecticut School of Law in Hartford. Senator Doyle also attended University College Galway, in Galway, Ireland, and the University of Notre Dame Law School in London, England.
Senator Doyle lives in Wethersfield and has practiced with various law firms in Connecticut. He currently is a partner in the law firm of Heneghan, Kennedy & Doyle LLC in Rocky Hill.
