Democrats Delivering During a Crisis

COVID-19 has infected thousands, caused untold loss, and fundamentally changed daily life. Democrats are delivering real results to protect the public’s health and help people recover economically, physically, and mentally.

DEMOCRATIC FEDERAL SUPPORT

  • $1,400 stimulus check per person*
  • $300 a month for families per child five and younger and $250 for all other children starting in July*
  • Expanded unemployment aid of $300 a week through Sept. 6
  • $2.6 billion in aid for Connecticut state government
  • $1.6 billion in aid for local Connecticut towns and education
  • Lower payments and expanded access to Obamacare

DEMOCRATIC STATE SUPPORT

  • Paid Family and Medical Leave starting January 2022
  • Increasing minimum wage to $12/hour and $15/hour by June 2023
  • More state education funding for towns

*Eligible individuals are single filers with an adjusted gross income of $75,000 or below, heads of household at $112,500 or below, and married couples at $150,000 or below. For single filers, the checks decrease to zero at $80,000, $120,000 for heads of household, and $160,000 for joint filers

Senator Cohen Announces Series of Upcoming Community Conversations

Events to be held from January 3 to January 18

Senator Christine Cohen (D-Guilford) announced that she will hold a series of open office hours for all residents of the 12th Senate District in Madison, Branford, Guilford, Durham, North Branford, and Killingworth.

“The 2019 legislative session begins January 9 and it’s important that I hear from all citizens of the 12th Senate District so that I can best represent them during my time in the legislature,” Senator Cohen said. “I look forward to holding productive conversations with my constituents and hearing their suggestions for legislation. Together we can make our region of the state an even better place to live.”
