CROMWELL— For the 11th year in a row, senior citizens from Cromwell, Middletown, Newington, Rocky Hill & Wethersfield are invited to attend the Senior Expo hosted by Senator Paul Doyle (D-Wethersfield). This year’s event will take place on Tuesday, October 17, from 9:30—11:30 a.m. at Cromwell Senior Center, 41 West St., Cromwell.

The event is free and gives seniors the opportunity to connect with their peers and the many groups who offer services to support them. Vendors from across Connecticut will be on hand to offer giveaways and advice on healthcare, quality of life issues and more.

“This is a great opportunity for seniors to get information about services that are available to them, ask questions, and get answers in one convenient location.” said Sen. Doyle “There are a lot of services available for seniors, but far too often, many of our elderly residents are not aware that they even exist. I hope that by getting all these organizations in one place at the Senior Expo, I can help seniors in my district connect with these services.”

One organization that attends every year is the Office of the State Treasurer, which helps seniors search through the state’s unclaimed property owners list. Tens of thousands of Connecticut residents currently have unclaimed property in the possession of the state which they are eligible to claim at any time, free of charge. This can include dormant balances in savings and checking accounts, uncashed checks, commissions or wages, and other financial assets that have been forgotten.

Over 25 vendors from across Connecticut have been invited to this year’s Senior Expo, including:

  • Autumn Lake Healthcare
  • Apple Rehab Cromwell
  • MedGuard Alert
  • Northern Middlesex YMCA
  • Medicare Plans/Service
  • Cromwell Chiropractic Center
  • Pigrim Manor
  • The Kennedy Center
  • Waters Edge Center for Health/Rehab
  • Bel-Air Manor
  • Monsignor Bojnowski Manor
  • Panda Home Care
  • One MacDonough Place
  • Alzheimer’s Association
  • State of CT Dept of Insurance
  • CT State Treasury, UCPD
  • Office of the Healthcare Advocate
  • CT Dept. of Banking
  • CT State Library for the Blind
  • CT Housing Finance Authority

Seniors can call their local senior center for transportation or call Sen. Doyle’s office at 860-240-0475 with any questions.
