Over the last eight years, the Great Recession and structural shift in our economy has led to uncertainty for families, businesses and state and local governments. I was certainly discouraged with the recent departure of GE from Connecticut. I hope it is a wakeup call to all of our state government to redouble our efforts to retain our other existing businesses. Despite the GE loss, some good things are happening in Connecticut and some examples are as follows:
