Dropping the Puck for a Good Cause

I hope you were able to join me at the SoNO Ice House for Hockey in Norwalk Day.

The New York Rangers Assist Program and Rangers alumni teamed up with Chase Bank, the SoNo Ice House, the CT Barons and the CT Oilers to help raise funds and collect gently used equipment so that more kids can get involved in hockey.

I'd like to thank Stephen Ehrlich and his wife Francine who started Hockey in Norwalk.

It was great to see so many friends there.

Honoring Norwalk's Finest

honoringIt was an honor to attend the Norwalk Police Department awards ceremony and to celebrate the bravery of the men and women of the Norwalk Police Department.

More than 30 NPD officers were recognized at the department's 3rd Annual Awards Ceremony and praised for their meritorious acts.

I'd like to especially congratulate Mark Suda for receiving the 2015 Officer of the Year Award and all the officers for their heroic efforts and dedication to their duty.

Improving Air Quality and Traffic

Norwalk received a $2.54 million grant under the Federal Highway Administration's Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement Program, which funds projects that improve air quality and reduce traffic congestion.

The grant is designed to improve the flow of traffic through the urban center of the city. This includes the upgrading of five traffic signals, the installation of six roadway weather sensors, and the installation of 15 blank out/dynamic message signs at selected decision points on diversionary routes.

To qualify for the grant, municipalities must demonstrate that their projects will result in reduced vehicle exhaust emissions and, at the same time, be cost effective.

Thanks to the governor and federal delegation for advocating for the funding.

Murphy, Duff and Rilling
Transportation Forum

Please join Senator Chris Murphy and Mark Abraham from DataHaven along with Norwalk Mayor Harry Rilling and me for a conversation on transportation issues in Fairfield County on Sunday, February 28th in Norwalk.

Senator Murphy has worked tirelessly to improve transportation for commuters, residents and businesses in Connecticut. As part of the senator's efforts, he started the "Fed Up" campaign to solicit feedback from residents in Fairfield County on the issues they face in their daily commutes and travels. This forum is a chance for you to hear an update on what the senator is doing in Washington, D.C. and express your concerns on transportation issues in the region.

The details for the event are below. If you can attend, please RSVP to Max Goldman at max_goldman@murphy.senate.gov. We hope to see you on the 28th!
