Speak Out About Eversource's Storm Response at Upcoming Public Hearing

The storm on October 29 left too many people in the dark for multiple days, exposing Eversource Energy's lack of proper storm preparedness and lack of a quick, effective storm response. Eversource's storm response was confusing and unacceptable, and I want to ensure they hear how their poor storm response affected you and your family. The legislature's Energy and Technology Committee plans to announce the date of another public hearing at the Legislative Office Building, located on 300 Capitol Avenue in Hartford. I'll keep you updated once a date is announced.

Once the hearing is scheduled, I hope you will be able to join me at this hearing to speak directly to Eversource about their storm response. If you are unable to testify in person, you can still submit testimony by emailing it to: and copying me at

Eversource's poor response left more than 100,000 Connecticut residents in the dark for multiple days. This is completely inexcusable, particularly now that Eversource is requesting that regulators allow it to increase its rates by $336.8 million, which would amount to an average 6.8 percent increase on customer's bills. Extended blackouts like we saw last month are a serious safety and health risk. We need to ensure that in the future Eversource is prepared and equipped to keep the lights on.
