Standing Up For You!

Helping the Richards Avenue Fire Victims

By now, you've probably seen the images of the devastating fire at the condos at 100 Richards Avenue. All 54 units are unfit for occupancy. Even the units not impacted by the fire have either major water or smoke damage.

Smoke Alarm Instillation

The American Red Cross in Connecticut and the City of Norwalk are joining together to offer free smoke alarms and installations to residents. The smoke alarm installations are part of the Red Cross Home Fire Campaign to reduce the number of home fire deaths and injuries. Residents can schedule a visit by visiting or by calling 1-877-287-3327 and choosing option 1 on the menu to request a smoke alarm installation. Teams making visits to homes will share fire safety and preparedness information and install smoke alarms in homes as requested. Volunteers will help families understand the importance of fire safety and help them develop personalized family escape plans to use in the event a fire breaks out in their home.

In addition to providing free smoke alarm installations and education, the Red Cross is also looking for volunteers to help install smoke alarms for this event and in their community throughout the year. Home Fire Campaign Volunteers are trained by the Red Cross, can volunteer during the day or on weekends, and can help make a difference in their community. Wreaths Across America

Watching the Wreaths Across America convoy always gives me a chill up my spine. Wreaths Across America volunteers will be delivering over 250,000 wreaths from Maine to Arlington National Cemetery to pay tribute to those laid to rest there. Many Gold Star families will be in attendance.

Thanks to St. Ann's Club for once again hosting the end of day dinner for all those traveling such a far distance.

If you'd like to place a wreath locally, please join me tomorrow at Spring Grove Cemetery in Darien on the Post Road at 11:30 a.m.
