Healthy Families, Healthy Communities

Thank you for Coming to My "Pop-Up Pizza Meeting"

I am very grateful for everyone who came out last week to talk with me about the construction on the West Main Street Bridge. This work is important, but it has begun to harm local businesses as it drags on and slows traffic in the area. We had a great conversation about the problem, and I hope that by working together we'll be able to enact some remedies that will ensure this work gets done as soon as possible and that local businesses are still able to bring customers in the door.

Working with the People on the Ground to Help Connecticut's Most Vulnerable Citizens

Case workers at the state Department of Developmental Services (DDS) do incredible work for Connecticut's residents with disabilities and their families. I have worked throughout my legislative career to help build supports for the workers and the families they support. I recently had the chance to sit down with a group of DDS workers and concerned parents about proposals to privatize group homes and how their work and the individuals they all care for would be impacted. Hearing directly from the people doing this important work is invaluable in guiding my votes in the state Senate, and I want to thank them all for sitting down to speak with me. I hope that they will remain active and continue reaching out to my colleagues and me as the 2017 legislative session continues.
