Export Funding Available for Connecticut Small Businesses

Big news for small-business owners! If your business engages in export-related activities, you can apply for grants of up to $7,000 through the State of Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD).

Businesses that want to apply for export assistance should visit: www.stepgrant.fluidreview.com to review program guidelines, then apply via email to: aaron.knight@ct.gov.

The DECD administers the program, and it directs federal funds to companies that participate in eligible export activities such as trade shows, trade missions, marketing and internationalization projects, and export training.

The federal Small Business Administration created the grant program under the Obama administration to provide grants to state export offices. States like Connecticut must then apply each year for the federal funding. The program was designed to increase state exports and the number of small businesses that export.

Since its inception, Connecticut has awarded $1.5 million in grants to 350 companies.
