FIGHTING FOR OUR COMMUNITY

Speaking Out Against Trump's Racist Comments

I spoke out against President Trump's racist comments regarding Haiti, El Salvador and African nations to our representatives in Washington, Senator Richard Blumenthal and Senator Chris Murphy, during their visit to Bridgeport last Friday.

Senator Gomes speaks out.

I also thanked the senators for their efforts in Washington to highlight the humanitarian crisis in Puerto Rico.

Here in Connecticut, we are proud to have residents of so many different ethnic and religious backgrounds. Our diversity is our strength.

Hearing from Greater Bridgeport Nonprofits

I had so many meaningful conversations with Greater Bridgeport nonprofits at the Fairfield County's Community Foundation Legislative Forum last Tuesday at Housatonic Community College.

Senator Gomes speaks to nonprofit leaders.

Many of our local nonprofit organizations are working cohesively to maximize their resources and better serve the community. During this forum, we discussed challenges, triumphs, and ideas for working together in the future. Legislators from the Greater Bridgeport area, including myself, were there to listen and answer questions regarding legislation and funding for the services they provide.

Let's keep the discussion going. Contact me online.

I Want to Hear from You

The 2018 legislative session begins in February and each state legislator has the opportunity to submit bills to help improve our communities.

I want to hear from you. Is there something in your neighborhood that you think could be improved? Everything from education to quality of life issues to transportation to infrastructure is affected by state law. There is no issue too big or too small that we can’t tackle together.

I am here to represent you, so please reach out and together we can make our communities, our towns, and Connecticut better!
