Will You Help Provide Lunch for Bridgeport Summer Youth?

You can be a community member that supports Bridgeport's young people by providing lunch for the youth crew working at Reservoir Community Farm!

Green Village Initiative (GVI) is a nonprofit in Bridgeport whose mission is to grow food, knowledge, leadership and community through urban gardening and farming to create a more just food system in Bridgeport.

GVI's goal is to provide their youth with a healthy, satisfying meal Wednesday through Saturday throughout the Summer Youth Program.

Bridgeport Pubic Schools provide free breakfast and lunch during the school year, but during the summer months it may be difficult for youth to secure lunch. By providing a meal, you are empowering our Summer Youth Farm Crew to have the energy to do the hard work that is growing food for our city.

If you are interested, email or call 203-612-4107.

Every summer, their Youth Leadership Program cultivates young food leaders in Bridgeport by developing skills in agricultural knowledge, food justice, career readiness, and leadership. These skills are achieved through participation in the Summer Youth Crew, Food Leader Advisory Group, and Academic Year Internships. Youth determine their role in the food system by forging meaningful connections with their neighbors, land, community and city.
