2-1-1 Service is Here to Help

Ever wonder how to find health and community services when you or someone you know needs help?

Whether you want to give or get help, 2-1-1 is the confidential, free, 24-hour a day, multilingual way to locate hundreds of human services in Connecticut.


At any hour of any day, you can dial 2-1-1 and be connected with professionals who can help with housing assistance, crisis intervention, early childhood information, healthcare assistance and more. Most recently, 2-1-1 helped coordinate assistance for victims of the hurricane in Puerto Rico. All 2-1-1 services are also accessible online at

While the United Way's 2-1-1 service has been in existence for several years now, efforts to greatly improve the number and quality of services offered were recently announced. Using its partnerships with the State of Connecticut and multiple social service organizations throughout our state, United Way is aiming to make 2-1-1 the full-service ombudsman for anyone in need of assistance.

2-1-1 is the ultimate statewide access point for information about health and human services. Last year, there were over 323,000 calls made to the 2-1-1 call center, connecting people in need with the approximately 4,100 health and human service providers offering approximately 40,000 services and 4,000 child care facilities. In addition to those calls, there were over 950,000 visits to the website last year.
