CT Health Insurance Enrollment Extended to January 15

I have some great news!

Access Health Connecticut, which is Connecticut’s health insurance marketplace created under the federal Affordable Care Act (‘Obamacare’), has extended its deadline for new and renewed registrations by one month, from December 15 until January 15, 2019.

Call 1-855-805-4325, or visit, to get started! Your health insurance coverage will take effect February 1, 2019.

Access Health Connecticut was created in 2011 by Democrats in the state legislature to help everyone afford some type of basic health insurance. More than 100,000 Connecticut residents are covered by an Access Health CT plan, which is offered by Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield, ConnectiCare, and Husky Health.

Benefits of Access Health CT coverage include:

  • Preventative services such as annual checkups, shots, etc.
  • Prescription drug coverage
  • Medical care before and after a baby is born
  • Laboratory tests
  • Outpatient care (when you don’t have to go to the hospital)
  • Dental and vision care for children
  • Emergency room visits
  • Mental health and substance abuse treatment
  • And more!

The enrollment period has been extended even though a Texas judge ruled last week that the federal Affordable Care Act (of which Access Health CT is a part) should be overturned due to some recent changes made by the Trump administration. That Texas decision is being appealed.

About 75% of Access Health CT customers receive some sort of financial aid to help pay for their medical insurance. Single people making less than $48,560 a year, and a family of four making under $100,400, may qualify.

When you call or go online to enroll, please have the following information handy for you or the people you are looking to cover:

  • Dates of birth
  • Social Security number, visa, green card or immigration documents
  • Most recent W2 wage statement and/or Form 1040, Form 1099
  • Paystubs and other employment information
  • Current health insurance coverage, if any

I encourage you to sign-up now!
