U.S. News Ranks Connecticut Among 'Best States'

A new poll by U.S. News & World Report ranks Connecticut as among the best states in America when it comes to education, health care, government, infrastructure, economy, opportunity, and a low crime rate.

U.S. News evaluated states in 68 different areas to create its 'Best States' rankings. The report can be found online at

The "Best States" report gives Connecticut an overall ranking of 12, with its leading categories including No. 2 for gender equality, No. 3 for educational attainment, No. 3 for college readiness, and No. 3 for state integrity. It also ranked Connecticut as the seventh-safest state in the country.

It takes a lot of investment and good public policy to create the kind of state where people are healthy, happy, well-educated and where crime is low. I'm glad to have been a part of these positive public-policy making decisions in the Connecticut State Senate.

The Top 12 states for 2017 are: Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Minnesota, North Dakota, Washington, Iowa, Utah, Maryland, Colorado, Vermont, Virginia and Connecticut.
