The COA grants to Darien and Stamford are a combination of "Arts Project" grants and "Supporting Arts in Place" (SAP) grants.

The Arts Project grant program provides funding for the planning and implementation of arts-based projects, of all disciplines, for Connecticut audiences, communities and participants. The project must be accessible and relevant to the audience and community and must engage at least one Connecticut artist in a significant project role. Grant requests range from $5,000 to $15,000; the COA awarded 27 Arts Project grants statewide totaling $290,650.

The SAP program awards grants to eligible arts organizations and municipal arts offices to strengthen the state's nonprofit arts industry. SAP grants provide general operating support, and funding levels are derived from organizational data and are calculated by mathematical formula. The COA awarded 121 SAP grants statewide totaling $599,500.

In total, the COA awarded 205 grants totaling $1,040,588 statewide.
