An Advocate for Us

This Weekend, Celebrate Earth Day

This week we celebrate Earth Day. I am proud that Connecticut was recently ranked the fifth-greenest state in the country. This is in part because of the laws we at the State Capitol have put in place to protect our water, air and open space from polluters. But more importantly, it is the dedication of you and all of the people of Connecticut to day in and day out protect our environment.

Below are some Earth Day events happening in our communities.

New Haven Rock to Rock

Over the last nine years, Rock to Rock has become one of the New Haven region's largest environmental fundraisers. The funds raised will support youth education, community gardens, city tree planting, environmental education, green policy work, local and healthy food projects, park improvements, and much more.

The event offers 8-mile, 12-mile, 20-mile, 40-mile, and metric century routes to explore our community's parks and greenspaces, back roads and city streets, city neighborhoods and small towns. Along the way, listen to great music, eat tasty food, and enjoy a beautiful spring day.

New Haven March for Science

You can show support for the scientific community and celebrate science, encourage curiosity, and defend evidence-based policies at the New Haven March for Science. Events begin at 1:00pm in the College Woods section of East Rock Park.

Hamden Earth Day Celebration

Hamden's Earth Day celebration will feature dozens of environmental exhibitors, a variety of activities, food and shows all promoting earth-friendly services, products and organizations!

The celebration will be held at Hamden Middle School, 2623 Dixwell Avenue, Hamden from 10 AM to 3 PM.

The event is free and open to the public.
