Care 4 Kids Reopens

As of November 8, the Office of Early Childhood is once again accepting families from the Care 4 Kids wait list. Care 4 Kids helps low-income families in Connecticut pay for child care costs. Families who are currently on the Care 4 Kids wait list are being encouraged to apply for the program if they believe they are still eligible.

The Care 4 Kids program was closed in August 2016 to most new families as a result of federal requirements that increased costs of the Care 4 Kids program without increasing available funding.

Now, with a state budget in place and participation numbers at an affordable and manageable level, Care 4 Kids is able to begin enrolling a larger number of new families.

Families currently registered on the wait list are beginning to be sent letters telling them they can apply for a Care 4 Kids child care certificate.
