Honesty & Integrity

Trumbull Gardens Community Conversation

I’ll be visiting Trumbull Gardens in Bridgeport TONIGHT for a community conversation with residents from 6-8 p.m. at Trumbull Gardens Community Center, 715 Trumbull Ave., Bridgeport.

I will be available to answer questions regarding safety, education, taxes, housing conditions, and any other topics of concern to you.

This is your chance let me know what issues are most important to you and your family. Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend.

See you there!

State Budget Update

On Friday, Governor Malloy vetoed the Republican budget which included tax increases, devastating cuts to higher education, elimination of funding for job programs, and a secret tax increase on teachers.

Since the Republican budget passed the General Assembly on September 16, I have been raising my voice in strong opposition to these cuts and tax increases.

I rallied with students at Housatonic Community College on September 22 to denounce the deep cuts to higher education in the Republican budget that would make devastating, long-lasting impacts on the lives of students at Housatonic and universities across the state. And most recently I met with teachers in Trumbull to hear their concerns regarding a teacher tax and funding for education.

As we move forward in the state budget process, I will continue advocating for all my constituents in Bridgeport, Trumbull, and Monroe.

Trumbull Integrity Awards

Last Friday, I had the honor of recognizing five Trumbull residents who are making a positive impact in the Trumbull community through their work and volunteer efforts at the 2017 Trumbull Integrity Awards at Trumbull Town Hall.

The Trumbull Integrity Award identifies and honors individuals whose integrity stands out in their community and echoes throughout.

I’d like to once again congratulate this year’s recipients, Edward Gillespie, Jennifer Gillis, Paulette Mack, Jeffrey Kunkel, Michael Silva, and Dr. Matthew Wheeler. Honorees were nominated by the Trumbull Rotary Club, Trumbull Mothers Offering Mothers Support (MOMS), and residents of Stern Village.
