Talking With Senior Citizens

Every fall, I make it a point to travel around to all of the senior centers in the 19th Senate District and talk to people about some of the new state policies we’ve enacted to help them, such as a new law requiring health insurance policies to cover osteoporosis screening for women age 60 or older, or restoring budget cuts to the Medicare Savings Program.

As co-chair of the Appropriations Committee, I also have a pretty detailed knowledge of where our state revenues are spent and why, so I answer a lot of questions and provide a lot of factual information about that, too.

So far I’ve visited senior centers in Montville, Lebanon and Lisbon; this week I was in Hebron.

I’d love to see you out at some of the upcoming visits I have planned; here’s the schedule, but please call the senior center in advance to make sure the time or date haven’t changed!

  • Franklin Senior Center, September 25 at 11am
  • Ledyard Senior Center, September 26 at Noon
  • Beckish Senior Center in Columbia, October 15 at Noon
  • Sprague Town Hall, October 25 at 1pm

I’ll also be visiting the Marlborough Senior Center and the Rose City Senior Center in Norwich at dates to be announced.

I hope to see you there!
