A Passion For Progress

Earth Day, Every Day!

The Energize Connecticut Center is debuting a new children's play, 'Earth Day, Every Day,' on Friday, March 24 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.

'Earth Day, Every Day' was written by Eastern Connecticut State University alumna Deborah Stauffer, who won the 2016 eesmarts Student Contest's 'Wright the World' college category.

The play follows Roger Recycle, Penelope Precycle, Elmer Energy, Chadwick Composter and Scarlet Upcycle as they audition for a special 'Earth Day' commercial broadcast. During their auditions, they try to convince the director that they have the best solution for conserving energy and resources, but soon realize that each of them plays an important role in preserving the planet.

Following the free, family friendly performance, there will be themed craft projects for guests to complete. Attendees are also encouraged to explore the Center's energy-saving resources throughout the evening. For more information about the event, please call 203-799-0460 or visit the Energize CT website.

Resident Leadership Program

Neighborhood Housing Services of New Haven will be hosting a Resident Leadership Program, which is a series of five workshops that will take place on Tuesday evenings from late March through early May.

Resident Leadership Program

The Resident Leadership Program is designed to empower residents to take charge of their neighborhoods, while actively connecting with other residents to sustain community development. The primary goals of this program are to transfer concrete skills, create space for people to connect with each other, and increase people's sense of being agents of change.

Oftentimes leadership programs are built to fill in the "missing gaps" rather than to engage the strengths that already exist or to allow time for practice to build confidence in skills. This program aims to change that paradigm.

If you or anyone may be interested in this program, download and fill out the program application and return it via email to, or in-person at their office located on 333 Sherman Avenue in New Haven.

Food will be provided during each workshop.
