Free Screening of "Zero Weeks" in West Haven

The Campaign for Paid Family Leave is hosting a sneak-peek screening and discussion of ZERO WEEKS, a documentary exploring America's paid leave crisis and I encourage everyone to attend and learn more about this issue.

The screening will take place tomorrow, January 18, at the Ora Mason Library, 260 Benham Hill Rd, West Haven at 5:30 p.m.

Weaving powerful stories together with insightful interviews from leading policy makers, economists, researchers and activists, ZERO WEEKS lays out a compelling argument for guaranteed paid leave for every American worker. The film looks at paid leave from an emotional, medical, financial and global perspective.

ZERO WEEKS is the fourth documentary by award-winning director, Ky Dickens. Dickens was inspired to make a film about paid leave, after facing financial depletion, emotional turmoil and guilt of having "not enough time," due to a lack of paid leave, after the birth of her first child.

In Connecticut, if we are going to continue to grow our economy we need one that supports workers in times of crisis. Paid family and medical leave will ensure that workers who need to take time off to welcome a new baby, care for an ill loved one or recover from a personal illness are not punished financially.

I have fought for this policy in our state and will continue to do so. I hope you will join me to further understand its importance.
