New Haven Hosts FAFSA Fun Nights

Parents and their graduating high school seniors can attend one of New Haven's upcoming FAFSA Fun Nights to learn about completing the Free Application for Federal Aid (FAFSA). Completing the FAFSA form is the first step toward getting federal aid for college, career school or graduate school.

Experts from around that state will be there to provide one-on-one support. Information at the event will be available for undocumented and immigrant students, parents, and families, including students that may not be able to fill out the FAFSA due to their immigration status.

There is one more event happening tomorrow, Saturday, February 3, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Free Income Tax Assistance

Again in 2018, the New Haven Free Public Library is serving as an IRS-certified Connecticut Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site where you can have your taxes prepared for free. The services will be available from January 29 to April 17 at the following locations:

Wilson Library, 303 Washington Ave.
Tuesdays from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m.
Saturdays from 1:00 to 4 p.m.

Ives Main Library, 133 Elm St.
Monday through Thursday from 4:00 to 7:30 p.m.
Fridays from 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
