A Passion For Progress

Home Heating Assistance

Operation Fuel partners with local governments and community-based organizations at more than 100 sites throughout Connecticut to ensure that families in need have access to year-round energy assistance.

Home heating season returns.

The application process is already in progress and runs through Wednesday, October 31, 2018 or when the funding runs out. One-time grants of up to $500 per household for deliverable fuel, gas and electric utilities are available to qualified individuals.

To qualify for electric utility, clients must have a shut-off notice, have no utility service, must need assistance to maintain a payment arrangement or have a past due balance of 30 days or more.

For more details about the program or to find the nearest fuel bank please call 211 or visit their website, or visit

Join Me at My Upcoming School Greeting

Senator Winfield welcomes students.

Many of our children face untold difficulties in their everyday lives and for some, even getting to school comes as a challenge. That's why I believe in celebrating students for coming to school.

My "Because You Matter" school greeting tour continues through October and I'm inviting you to join me in welcoming local students to school in the morning. Let them know you care!

  • Monday, October 15 at 7:30 a.m. - Wexler/Grant Community School, 55 Foote Street

Twice a month for the rest of the school year, you can join me and other members of the community at a school in your neighborhood to welcome and encourage students as they walk through the doors in the morning.

Please visit the "Because You Matter Tour" Facebook page for times and updates.
