Connecticut Named a Top State for Children's Health Care

Connecticut often ranks among the states with the greatest quality of life in the country. That's why I was happy but not surprised to learn we recently ranked third-best in the country for children's health care.

A study conducted by WalletHub compared states along a number of metrics, including number of pediatricians, percentage of children with healthcare, and percentage of children in good health. Connecticut scored high marks in all these metrics, particularly in a measurement of the percentage of children receiving regular medical and dental preventive visits. We ranked 2nd in the country in that metric, so great work to all the parents out there for making sure your children see their doctors and dentists every year!

I am happy that Connecticut continues to be one of the healthiest states in the country, particularly for children. However, we should not rest until we are the best in the country. As Senate Democratic Chair of the Public Health Committee, I will continue working to pass legislation that ensures more people in our state have access to high-quality, affordable healthcare.
