Gomes Celebrates National Health Center Week With Southwest

BRIDGEPORT— Senator Ed Gomes (D-Bridgeport) celebrated National Health Center Week at Southwest Community Health Center’s 11th Annual Health Fair in Bridgeport today.
Staffers and providers from Southwest, the WIC Program, SNAP, and other community agencies were available to meet families, provide medical and dental screenings and answer questions to help work towards a healthier lifestyle.
“For the last 25 years, Southwest has done excellent work in Bridgeport by raising awareness about health issues and providing necessary medical services at their local health centers across our city,” Sen. Gomes said. “I will continue to support them so that they can continue to serve more and more people and help Bridgeport become a healthier, happier city.”
According to National Health Center Week organizers, one in every fifteen people living in the United States depends on health center services. Health Centers deliver high quality, cost effective, accessible care while serving as critical economic engines helping to power local economies.
In Greater Bridgeport, Southwest is dedicated to providing high quality, accessible medical, dental and behavioral health services to individuals and families, especially the uninsured, who reside in the medically underserved Southwest Bridgeport community.
