Construction to Close Exit 9 on I-95, Sen. Leone Says to ‘Plan Accordingly’

HARTFORD, CT – Due to construction, Exit 9 on I-95 will be closed both north and southbound from 11 pm, Friday, May 31 until 5 am Monday, June 3 and again at the same times from June 7 to June 10. State Senator Carlo Leone (D-Stamford) said drivers should plan their commutes accordingly.

“As the construction goes on over the next two weekends, motorists can go to for details on detours that can be used to dodge the construction and keep their commutes running smoothly,” said Sen. Leone.

The I-95 Construction Project taking place will consist of the state’s Department of Transportation replacing the Route 1 Bridge on East Main Street over the north bound lanes of I-95 in Stamford over the course of two separate weekends.

“This much-needed construction to replace the Route 1 Bridge will be complete in just two weekends,” said Sen. Leone. “It is encouraging to see this major project completed swiftly as many people use this bridge every day.”

The first weekend, this Friday May 31 to June 3, starting at 6 pm entrance ramps at Exit 9 will be closed, at 9 pm exit ramps at Exit 9 will close and the interstate will close at 11 pm. Motorists will be detoured onto temporary roadways. The second weekend, the highway will close again at 11 pm starting on June 7 until June 10.
