CVS Health To Open COVID-19 Testing Site In East Hampton; Senator Needleman Asks Members Of Public With Symptoms Or Suspecting COVID To Get Tested

Today, CVS Health announced it is opening 12 new testing sites for COVID-19 at select CVS Pharmacy drive-through locations, including at the East Hampton CVS Pharmacy at 54 East High Street. State Senator Norm Needleman (D-Essex) lauded the move today, encouraging any member of the public who has symptoms matching COVID-19 or who meets Centers for Disease Control and Prevention criteria to pursue testing to preserve both their safety and public safety.

"As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, it's clear that increasing access and availability of testing will benefit and better protect our communities, potentially saving lives," said Sen. Needleman. "I encourage anyone who experiences symptoms and meets CDC guidelines for testing to schedule a test. Increased testing will help us protect public health as we slowly begin to reopen the state economy."

CVS Health's testing site at the East Hampton CVS will utilize self-swab tests. Individuals meeting Centers for Disease Control and Prevention criteria for testing, as well as age guidelines, will be able to access testing. Patients must register in advance at www.cvs.com beginning Friday, May 15 to schedule their appointments properly.

Testing will not take place inside any CVS retail locations. Patients will be required to stay in their cars and drive to the pharmacy window, where they will be given test kits and given instructions. A CVS Pharmacy employee will observe the self-swab process, ensuring it is done properly, after which the test will be sent to an independent third-party lab for processing. Test results will be available in approximately three days.
