Colapietro Announces Grants for Bristol Arts Organizations
State Senator Thomas Colapietro (D-Bristol) today announced that the Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism has awarded grants to two Bristol arts organizations.
The Bristol Historical Society and the New England Carousel Museum will both receive $3,000 Culture and Tourism Partnership Grants, which are designed to encourage new partnerships, expand current programs, jumpstart creative programs, attract new audiences, and generate fresh ideas.
"I'm very glad that the Historical Society and the Carousel Museum are getting these grants," said Senator Colapietro. "Bristol is full of history, and these organizations work hard to keep that history preserved for our children and grandchildren."
The Historical Society's grant will be used to create a permanent exhibit telling the story of Bristol's industrial heritage; while the Carousel Museum's grant will be used to support promotional costs for a collaborative effort between the museum and Lake Compounce, combining the museum's "Stay & Play" youth sleepover program with a one-day visit to the theme park.
Additionally, the Carousel Museum will receive a $7,660 Organization Support/General Operating Support grant to assist with administrative, operating, and programming expenses.
The Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism supports arts organizations across the state so that they can continue their creative and organizational goals and continue to add to the economic and creative vitality of Connecticut's communities.
