Bristol — State Senator Thomas A. Colapietro (D-Bristol), with state Senate President Pro Tempore Donald E. Williams, Jr. (D-Brooklyn), today thanked the veterans of Plainville for their thoughtful recognition at yesterday’s Seniors and Veterans Expo.
William T. Coffey, Sr. presented Senator Williams with a framed photograph of the full 1941 state Senate in session. He also presented Senator Colapietro with a signed copy of his book, co-authored with his son William T. Coffey, Jr. entitled, “Patriot Hearts: An Anthology of American Patriotism.”
“This was a completely unexpected and humbling gesture by Mr. Coffey and the veterans of Plainville,” Senator Colapietro said. “Senator Williams and I are grateful to them for thinking of us. Mr. Coffey gave Senator Williams a true piece of our state’s history. I personally will treasure his book and its remarkable stories always.”
The 31st District Seniors and Veterans Expo was held yesterday at Bristol Eastern High School. More than 200 seniors and veterans attended the event, which featured more than 40 agencies and vendors offering information and services to area residents.
