Community Health Services Honors Senator Coleman for His Community Service

At its 2006 Annual Meeting on Thursday, June 22, 2006, the Board of Directors of Community Health Services, Inc. (CHS) presented Senator Eric D. Coleman (D-Bloomfield) with its Community Service Award. Coleman was cited for his dedicated and loyal efforts in behalf of CHS.

CHS is a non-profit, federally qualified community health center. Located at 500 Albany Avenue in Hartford, the facility offers a full range of health care services, and currently serves 14,000 people.

"One of my proudest moments in the General Assembly occurred when we were able to secure a bonding authorization of approximately $9 million for the construction of the current CHS facility. Since that time there has been a further need to assist CHS with other financial assistance for programs, services and operational expenses," said Senator Coleman. "Additionally, I have been assisting with the effort to obtain additional state funds in order to renovate the third floor of the CHS building to facilitate the expansion of programs and services."

In addition to recognizing Senator Coleman, the Board also presented outgoing Board President, Sharon Mayfield-Lawrence with an award for her service to the Board, Marquese Davis was recognized for Exceptional Performance, Dr. Jannette Conde was presented with the Evan H. Daniels, Jr. Memorial Provider Award and Debby Foster received the "Doc" Henderson Memorial Employee of the Year Award.

At this same meeting, a number of employees received Outstanding Service Awards, including some who were presented with Five Year Service Certificates and others who were presented with Ten Year Service Certificates. Inna Keylin was recognized for her twenty-five years of service.

"From top to bottom, this organization consists of tremendous people. I am extremely proud to be considered a friend and an ally of Community Health Services and its very important mission," said Senator Coleman.
