Senator Eric Coleman (D-Bloomfield) announced that during the closing hours of the 2007 regular session of the General Assembly, the Senate gave final approval to the bill that authorizes state grant commitments for school building projects. The package includes $46 million for the Town of Bloomfield's district wide school renovation and modernization plan.
The funding will help finance the $94 million plan approved by the Bloomfield Town Council to upgrade the five schools in the district. S.B. 1406 authorizes $46 million in state grant commitments for school construction and renovation projects in Bloomfield:
"This funding is furtherance of the vision of the administration of the public schools, as well as that of all other officials and residents of Bloomfield, to transform Bloomfield's schools into the highest quality institutions, physically as well as academically," said Senator Coleman.
