The Connecticut Conference of Municipalities (CCM) presented Senator Eric Coleman with their Roger Sherman award for his extraordinary efforts on behalf of towns and cities during the 2008 session of the General Assembly. The co-chair of the General Assembly’s Planning and Development Committee, Senator Eric Coleman (D-Bloomfield) has been honored by the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities (CCM) for his support of efforts to benefit the cities and towns across the state.
CCM is Connecticut’s statewide association of towns and cities. It represents 144 member municipalities and that includes the communities of Hartford, Bloomfield and Windsor.
During a ceremony at the Legislative Office Building, Senator Coleman was presented with the CCM’s Roger Sherman award for his extraordinary efforts on behalf of towns and cities in the 2008 session of the General Assembly.
“Senator Coleman was presented with the award for his assistance to towns and cities,” said Ron Thomas, the manager of State and Federal Relations for CCM. “He’s been real helpful to the organization in regards to unfunded mandates and in support of towns and cities and their efforts.”
“I’m very honored to receive this award and I believe my position as chair of the Planning and Development Committee, where the cognizance of the committee is municipal government and is very consistent with what CCM is all about,” said Senator Coleman. “Many of the issues that come before us affect municipal government and CCM is the advocate of issues having to do with municipal government, so I’m fortunate to have been in a position to have a lot of interaction with the representatives of CCM. I’m hopeful there is a good deal of reciprocity and mutuality because they’re helping me perform my functions better and I’m helping them in the work they do as advocates for the cities and towns in the legislature.”
