The co-chair of the General Assembly's Insurance and Real Estate Committee, Senator Joseph Crisco (D-Woodbridge) has been honored by the Connecticut Pharmacists Association (CPA). During the CPA Mid-Winter Conference at the in at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville, Senator Crisco was presented with the organizations Legislator of the Year Award.
The Connecticut Pharmacists Association is a state professional Association dedicated to serving Connecticut's pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, pharmacy students and pharmacy school educators.
The CPA recognized Senator Crisco for his support of the profession of pharmacy in Connecticut. That includes sponsoring legislation during the 2007 legislative session that requires pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs), who administer drug prescription programs to be registered by the Insurance Department.
"The increased oversight over the pharmacy benefit managers will help benefit consumers and the pharmacists in the state," said Senator Crisco. "The pharmacists play an important role in the health care system and our communities. I'm gratified to be honored by the Connecticut Association of Pharmacists."
