Crisco Has Announced Plans to Host the 2008 Senior Fair October 2nd at Warsaw Park in Ansonia

Event will focus on winter energy assistance and health care

Senator Joseph Crisco (D-Woodbridge) said the expanded winter energy assistance package and important information on health care and other services will be provided during the Senior Fair he is sponsoring that will be held Thursday, October 2nd at Warsaw Park in Ansonia. The event is for residents in the 17th Senatorial District communities of Ansonia, Beacon Falls, Bethany, Derby, Hamden, Naugatuck and Woodbridge.

“The Senior Fair attracts nearly 1,000 people and is one of the largest events of its kind held in Connecticut,” said Senator Crisco. “I believe this event continues to grow in popularity because it has been successful in providing important information on benefits and services to help our seniors.”

The Senior Fair will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 2nd at Warsaw Park, 119 Pulaski Highway (Route 243) in Ansonia. The event is free and box lunches will be provided.

Nearly 50 agencies will be participating in the 2008 Senior Fair. Team, Inc., the community action agency in Derby will be providing information on Operation Fuel and the winter energy assistance program that will directly benefit seniors. The focus will also be on health care, with the fair featuring flu shots and pneumonia shots, dental screening, blood pressure screening, glaucoma screening, diabetes and cholesterol screening. In addition there will be information on cell-phone security, financial security, safety while driving, Medicare, Social Security and a wide range of other state and federal programs.

“These are difficult economic times partly because of the rising cost for energy and I’m pleased the Senior Fair will be able to provide information on the expanded winter energy assistance and the new energy efficient programs that will help seniors stay warm this winter and save on energy,” said Senator Crisco. “We will also provide even more information on health care and other services. All of this is part of an effort to directly benefit the lives of seniors.”
