State Representative Tony Guerrera (D-Newington, Rocky Hill, Wethersfield) and State Senator Paul Doyle (D-Wethersfield) today announced $850,000 in state funding for Rocky Hill is expected to be approved by the State Bond Commission next Friday. The grant will cover costs associated with renovations to the Cora J. Belden Library.
Rep. Guerrera, said, "The Cora Belden Library is the heart of our community. This funding is welcome news for the taxpayers of Rocky Hill. I want to thank Governor Rell for moving the process forward through the Bond Commission."
"The Cora Belden Library offers knowledgeable service and access to a diverse cache of materials for residents of Rocky Hill," said Sen. Doyle. "We cannot put a price on what the library offers in terms of quality of life and enrichment in our community. I'm very glad that the town will receive this funding to make these important improvements to the building and that adults and children alike will be able to continue to enjoy all that the library has to offer."
The project consists of roof replacement, code and accessibility improvements, replacement of windows and doors, upgrades to the HVAC system and bathroom renovations.
The State Bond Commission is scheduled to meet at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 28th in room 1-E of the Legislative Office Building in Hartford.
