State Senate President Donald E. Williams, Jr. (D-Brooklyn) today announced $600,000 in state funding for Eastern Connecticut State University. The money, to be used for new and replacement equipment, is expected to approved by the State Bond Commission at tomorrow's meeting.
It includes funding for media services, scientific research equipment such as microscopes and other lab related materials as well as computer network servers and personal computers for its information technology services.
The university will also be purchasing service vehicles including two hybrid cars and two electric club cars. "It's exciting to be able to provide Eastern with the resources necessary to maintain its academic standard of excellence," Sen. Williams said. "It is also very good to know university officials are making responsible purchases such as the hybrid service cars. Such decisions demonstrate a forward-looking mindset as the university and citizens of Connecticut deal with skyrocketing energy costs."
