State Senator Eric Coleman

Senator Coleman took part in a rally outside the Capitol to support more state funding for youth employment. The event was sponsored by the Youth Action Research for Prevention project of the Institute for Community Research. They believe more summer jobs for youth will prevent teenagers from getting involved in illegal activity. Senator Coleman supported their efforts and used the opportunity to outline his bill to provide jobs training for distressed municipalities. It calls in part for a system of tax credits to provide incentives for small businesses, as well as municipalities, community and nonprofit groups to train and hire residents. (March 31, 2005)
