State Senator Joseph Crisco

Senator Crisco visited the Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven for an update from one of the recipients of the state's biomedical research grants for tobacco-related illnesses. Dr. Joanne Wiedhass received a grant of $265,000 from the Biomedical Research Trust Fund to evaluate the role of miRNA let-7 mutations as a potential initiating event in the development of human lung cancer. Dr. Weidhass said she was extremely excited about the results, and she referred to it as a major breakthrough in lung cancer. Pictured left to right: Jerold R.
