Senator Mae Flexer (D-Danielson) today received the 2017 AARP Legislative Achievement Award in recognition of her leadership on keeping utilities affordable for Connecticut seniors.

“I am honored to be recognized for my efforts to protect seniors in my district and across Connecticut,” Sen. Flexer said. “As a state legislator, I have been able to work with the Connecticut AARP on many important issues affecting the lives of seniors in the communities I represent and I look forward to continue working with them. Seniors have a strong voice at our Capitol that stands up to the special interests.”

“In 2017, your efforts to protect ratepayers by being a champion in opposition of the special deal for the Millstone Nuclear Powerplant were admirable. We thank you for your support,” said AARP State Director Nora Duncan.

Flexer has worked closely with the AARP on numerous issues including utility rate payer protection, paid family and medical leave, senior fraud protection and consumer protection for seniors. This is the fifth time that AARP has recognized Senator Flexer for her leadership.
