WATERBURY, CT – Today, State Senator Joan Hartley (D-Waterbury) read to students at Waterbury’s Maloney Elementary School as part of Read Across America Week. Sponsored by the National Education Association, the annual event is meant to foster a love of reading in children. The event takes place in late February and early March, coinciding with the March 2 birthday of classic children’s author Dr. Seuss.
“Reading can inspire a lifelong love of education, knowledge and creative storytelling,” said Sen. Hartley. “I am so happy to have had the opportunity to read to students today, as I want them to have every opportunity possible to succeed. Reading is an important tool to help them do just that.”
