Sen. Hartley Announces $1 Million in State Bonding for Naugatuck YMCA

Today, state Senator Joan Hartley (D-Waterbury, Middlebury and Naugatuck) welcomed the approval by Governor Lamont and the State Bond Commission of $1,000,000 in funding to support infrastructure upgrades at the Naugatuck YMCA, including roof repairs.

“Every week, the Naugatuck YMCA provides a safe and enriching environment for young people to make friends, take part in recreational activities, and support their personal health. We want to the Naugatuck YMCA to be at its strongest and this funding will help to keep it readily able to offer its array of programs for children,” said Sen. Hartley. “Thank you to Governor Lamont and the members of the State Bond Commission for recognizing how important the community organization is to the growth and development of our future leaders.”

“The Naugatuck YMCA is an important community resource to so many people in the town, and I am glad that the state can partner with the organization to make these infrastructure upgrades to their building so that these services can continue for many years into the future,” said Governor Ned Lamont, who serves as chairman of the State Bond Commission.

The Naugatuck YMCA is committed to strengthening community bonds and wellness, particularly in supporting young people. Little Pal Basketball, a youth basketball league for boys and girls; swim lessons; and summer camp programs are among the opportunities provided to youth by the Naugatuck YMCA. In addition, the organization offers child care services, which includes a school readiness preschool program.
