CVS Health To Open COVID-19 Testing Site in Bethel; Senator Haskell Asks Members of Public With Symptoms to Get Tested

Today, CVS Health announced it is opening 12 new testing sites for COVID-19 at select CVS Pharmacy drive-through locations, including at the Bethel CVS Pharmacy at 7 Durant Avenue. State Senator Will Haskell (D-Westport) lauded the move today, encouraging any member of the public who has symptoms matching COVID-19 to get tested.

“We’ve known since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic that expanding access to testing would be one of the most significant ways to fight back against the virus,” said Sen. Haskell. “I applaud CVS for working to make tests more available to my constituents. I encourage anyone in the region who is experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, or who meets the CDC criteria for testing, to utilize this new resource. It could save lives and improve patient outcomes.”

CVS Health’s testing site at the Bethel CVS will utilize self-swab tests. Individuals meeting Centers for Disease Control and Prevention criteria for testing, as well as age guidelines, will be able to access testing. Patients must register in advance at www.cvs.com beginning Friday, May 15 to schedule their appointments properly.

Testing will not take place inside any CVS retail locations. Patients will be required to stay in their cars and drive to the pharmacy window, where they will be given test kits and given instructions. A CVS Pharmacy employee will observe the self-swab process, ensuring it is done properly, after which the test will be sent to an independent third-party lab for processing. Test results will be available in approximately three days.
