Senator Tim Larson (D-East Hartford) released the following statement regarding the violent clashes between neo-Nazis, white nationalists and counter-protesters in Charlottesville, Virginia over the weekend:
“Racism, white supremacy, neo-Nazism, and the other hateful views touted in Charlottesville this weekend have no place in this country and we must stand united in confronting and defeating this type of terrorism. The First Amendment grants us the right to many things, but never to commit such horrible acts of violence. My prayers go out to the victims, their families, and to the entire city of Charlottesville. As we move forward to heal our communities, we must continue to spread our message of love, tolerance, and acceptance of Americans of all colors and religions.”
