Senate President Pro Tempore Martin M. Looney (D-New Haven) today released the following statement regarding the make-up of the Senate in the upcoming legislative session:
“The Constitution is clear that the Lieutenant Governor breaks a tie in the Senate. That said, we are committed to working with our Republican colleagues in the hopes of reaching bipartisan solutions to Connecticut’s challenges. The Senate Democratic Caucus will continue to pursue an aggressive agenda to grow jobs, strengthen our economy and help middle class families get ahead.
“Going forward, the Connecticut GOP will now have to share responsibility for making tough decisions. It remains to be seen if they have the capacity to vote ‘yes’ rather than consistently voting ‘no’. If they continue on as the party of ‘no,’ it will make for a long legislative session.”
