Looney, Duff Call Out Republican Silence as Trump’s War Costs Connecticut Commuters $22 Million

“Connecticut commuters have paid nearly $22 million more at the pump since July, and are now paying close to $1 million a day, because Donald Trump started a war no one wanted. It is about to get much worse: diesel in New England has hit $6.20 a gallon, up $2.24 from a year ago, and home heating oil comes out of that same barrel. Every Connecticut Republican who stays quiet is making a choice to protect Donald Trump rather than the families who are paying more at the pump and about to open a winter heating bill they cannot afford.”

-Senate President Pro Tempore Martin M. Looney (D-New Haven) and Senate Majority Leader Bob Duff (D-Norwalk) responding to a CT Insider analysis finding that Connecticut commuters have paid roughly $22 million in additional gasoline costs since July 8, and are currently absorbing close to $1 million per day.
