Stamford Delegation Applauds New State Investment

STAMFORD, CT—Today, Senator Carlo Leone (D-Stamford), Representative Terry Adams (D-Stamford), Representative Patricia Miller (D-Stamford), Representative Caroline Simmons (D-Stamford), and Representative William Tong (D-Stamford, Darien) applauded the approval of state investment in the city. The State Bond Commission approved $4.5 million in funding at its November meeting.

“This round of state investment is great news for the city of Stamford,” said Sen. Leone. “The investment in Mill River Park will help the city’s quality of life and ensure we maintain and grow the Central Park of Connecticut. The museum expansion will go a long way to furthering the education of our kids on the environment. Furthermore, I am proud that we will soon have a local facility that will enhance the golden years of those in need of Hospice care giving them the opportunity to be surrounded by their loved ones. I would like to thank Governor Malloy for his continued commitment to Stamford and the state.”

The funding includes:

  • $2 million to the City of Stamford to assist ongoing development of Mill River Park.
  • $2 million to the Stamford Museum and Nature Center for the construction of a new environmental education farmhouse.
  • $500,000 to Fairfield County Hospice House to assist with completion of construction of its new facility in Stamford.

“I am very excited about the environmental education farmhouse at Stamford Museum and Nature Center. It will be a unique asset for the entire region,” Rep. Caroline Simmons said. “Students will expand their understanding of our interconnected ecosystem and learn about how to better protect our environment.”

“I am pleased that funding has been approved to assist the construction of the new Fairfield County Hospice House facility in Stamford, which will provide area patients and families with another high quality healthcare option,” said Rep. Miller. “Additionally, the funding to continue development of Mill River Park and create the education farmhouse at the Museum and Nature Center is a great investment in the preservation of Stamford’s natural resources.”

“I am thrilled that the State Bond Commission saw fit to approve this critical investment in Stamford,” Rep. Terry Adams said. “The funding will go a long way toward projects that are in Stamford’s vital interests. Children, families and our seniors will all benefit from these grants.”

“Investment in Stamford projects is something that will benefit everyone in the long run, and I am very happy that the State Bond Commission approved these grants,” Rep. William Tong said. “Congratulations to all those who helped us secure this funding. It will enhance the quality of life for our families, seniors and all those who value the environment and the outdoors.”
