Senator Gadkar-Wilcox Welcomes Funding for Klein Memorial Auditorium

Today, state Senator Sujata Gadkar-Wilcox (D-Bridgeport) is welcoming funding approved by the State Bond Commission to support the Klein Memorial Auditorium in Bridgeport. $246,000 was approved as a grant-in-aid to complete ongoing construction at the facility.

“The Klein is a cornerstone of our community and a vital cultural resource for all of Bridgeport,” said Senator Gadkar-Wilcox. “This funding will ensure that everyone, including elderly residents and those with physical disabilities, can fully participate in everything the Klein has to offer. I’m proud to help get this project across the finish line.”

The funding will complete construction of a conference room, three offices, a restroom for physically handicapped residents, and the installation of an elevator connecting the ground floor to the mezzanine level of the theater.

This will help benefit people who attend Klein events as there will now be elevator access to the mezzanine level, where the theater hosts receptions and maintains an art gallery. Staff at the Klein will also have new office space strengthening the organization’s capacity to serve the community. The new conference room will provide an auxiliary space for donor receptions and event use.
