SENATOR RAHMAN CELEBRATES $1.5 MILLION TO SUPPORT MANCHESTER ACADEMY EXPANSION
September 22, 2026
Today, State Senator MD Rahman (D-Manchester) welcomed the Community Investment Fund Board’s recommendation of $1.5 million in funding support for the planned expansion of Adelbrook Behavioral and Developmental Services’ expansion of its Manchester Academy.
This project, which will need to be finalized by the State Bond Commission in the next two months, will support Adelbrook’s Manchester Academy, which currently serves dozens of students ages 3-11 who have intellectual, developmental and spectrum-disorder conditions or disabilities.
“Manchester and Connecticut need to make sure they support every resident, and this expansion of Adelbrook’s Manchester Academy will make sure students who may need more resources and help will be able to receive it,” said Sen. Rahman. “On top of the Academy’s important work already underway, allowing it to reach more students and drastically expand education and employment opportunities locally will be strongly beneficial for the local community. I look forward to the State Bond Commission’s final approval.”
Expanding the academy to add a second floor expansion would double its capacity to serve up to 66 students and employ 30 new staff members, increasing local employment and supporting more students in the local region with specialized learning opportunities.
The $1.5 million in support will help fund the construction of a wing with four new classrooms, playscape equipment and sitework.
Senator Rahman has issued multiple letters of support for the project.
